Mr. Claude Blackmore
President of the Athletics Association Guyana
The President joined the Association after being elected as a "Committee Member" at the Annual
General Meeting held in February 1967 while he was still an active athlete. He served in various
capacities within the association such as the Chairman of the Education Sub Committee,
Public Relations Officer, Treasurer, Asst. Secretary-Treasurer and Vice President.
As a qualified Coach, he received training in the United States of America, the Mexican Olympic Training
Centre and Loughborough University and was appointed an IAAF Coach lecturing on Basic Level Coaches courses.
He was later, appointed by the IAAF as an International Technical Official(ITO) when the body created
that post and in this capacity he traveled the Region officiating at such
competitions as the Carifta,
Texaco Games, Whitsuntide Games among others.
He has attended a number of Administrative courses both at the IAAF and IOC levels and was awarded the
IAAF Veteran Pin during the IAAF Congress in Tokyo, Japan in 1991.
Mr.Blackmore works at the University of Guyana, is married and has three(3) children.
